About Us

Preventing fatal injuries as a result of serious falls from height has been RidgeGear's key objective since its formation in 1998.

With its key manufacturing operation in Leek, Staffordshire, RidgeGear is ideally positioned to serve the European industrial safety market place quickly and efficiently with the products that your company needs now.

RidgeGear benefits from the 70 years of collective expertise and experience of the Unitex Group of Companies. Pioneers of the car seat belt and the one piece woven airbag, Unitex has been at the forefront of technological developments that quite simply have changed peoples' lives and saved countless others.

Why are we unique?

RidgeGear is supported by Marling Leek, Europe's market leader in narrow fabric production, the innovation and design that was used to produce the automotive seat belt and one piece woven airbag. All this knowledge has been combined to help develop and manufacture our technical webbing range. Combined with our advanced production methods, engineering processes and testing procedures, our height safety products are truly unique and simply the best.

What do we control?

Weaving

We take high tenacity multi-filament polyester yarns and weave them on site on state of the art high tech machinery. The product at this stage is white and tested to destuction to ensure its fitness for purpose. During the weaving, the product is vigorously tested by dedicated operators working to a carefully designed specification.

Dyeing

We take our loom-state webbing and treat it down a state of the art continuous piece dye machine. The dyes are used to produce a colour-fast product and are tested and inspected continuously throughout the process. The dyes are specialist disperse dyes used in similar processes such as the automotive industry and in the production of life saving products such as the seat belt.

Quality Control

Our continuous and rigorous testing does not stop there. We know this is a life saving product and testing is continued yet again, even after the production process is complete. The webbing will only be released for one of our products when it passes all the demanding tests of our height safety.

Our product portfolio is manufactured and tested within an ISO9001 environment.

The latest Computer Aided Design techniques, coupled with the development of prototypes through the use of rapid prototyping methods, means that RidgeGear is able to combine new designs with tried and tested components.
